Newsletter of Fall 2006

Hello again and here we are with Newsletter number two for the web site. Keeping things in perspective is always a challenge no matter what line of work you are in. In firefighting, police work or as an emergency medical tech or paramedic it is no different. We find ourselves challenged daily and by the calls we are exposed to. *Accute Trauma Stress Management available as a workbook by ordering online from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress is a tool that every front line first responder in America and Canada should have at their fingertips. Reaching for a two and a half inch nozzel, a sidearm,or radar gun or, a defib paddle is no different when you take the time to reach for A.T.S.M. as a daily part of your work. This comprehensive yet easy to read manual written and produced by Dr. Michael Learner PhD, President of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, Commack N.Y. contains a wide variety of information that is easily read and understood by you, the First Responder, in attending in to fires, motor vehicle accidents, police work or any other place where traumatic injury takes place in the human equation of day to day living and dying. This is a first read must read and is wholly endorsed by N.A.F.F.V.N. and this site as the must have book. You can get your copy by going to the following site:

In the meantime there is much information on this web site including surfing into the links page and clicking on to the various headers which will take you into articles and topics which will assist you in staying ahead of the learning curve on stress and traumatic stress in your chosen career as a working Front Line First Responder. I will continue to update the site as new information comes on stream. It is a challenge to be this far out front and yet it too is a reflection of the work that remains to be done. Through your support in phone calls and emails I am able to work with our executive team and define the topics that you are asking for information on. The journey to get this far has had many bumps in the road but, it is and has been well worth it.

Stay safe in the Service and remain healthy for all the right reasons
